The Benson ADU Ventura Guarantee
Every ADU, home addition, and room addition we build in Ventura comes with a guarantee that means something. Not a verbal pat on the back. Not a handshake and a hope. We put it in writing before the first panel goes up, and we stand behind it for a full year after the job is done. If the work isn’t right within 365 days, Benson makes it right. That’s the whole promise: a written price before any work starts, a written guarantee stamped on the project, and a commitment that holds up long after the crew packs up and leaves your backyard.
We’re part of the Relay Home Co. family, founded in 2006, and this location is independently owned. Troy Eastman, Owner, runs Benson ADU Ventura. When Troy signs a guarantee, he’s the one who answers for it. That’s the benefit of building with a team where the person on the paperwork is the person who walked your property line, checked the setback (the minimum distance a structure must sit from property lines), and priced your framing. You’re not calling a call center when something needs attention. You’re calling the person who built it.
What’s Covered

Here’s what our guarantee covers, in plain language. No asterisks. No fine-print gymnastics.
- The workmanship. If any part of our construction fails due to how we built it within 365 days, we return and fix it at no cost to you.
- Parts and materials we handled. If a covered repair we performed fails within the guarantee period, you get a free second visit to make it right.
- Your written price. The number on your written estimate is the number you pay unless you ask us to add something. Scope creep doesn’t happen here without your signature.
- Your property. We treat your yard, driveway, and existing structures with care during construction, and we clean up after ourselves daily.
- On-time arrival. When we schedule a visit, a uniformed, background-checked technician shows up when we say they will, and a live person answers the phone around the clock if plans change.
- Honest product options. We build with brands you can research yourself: Abodu, Cover, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, Plant Prefab, Tuff Shed, and James Hardie cladding. If a product doesn’t fit your budget or site conditions, we tell you before you spend a dollar.
One thing we hear a lot from Ventura homeowners who call other builders first: the estimate sounded great, then the change orders started. That’s the opposite of how we operate. The guarantee on pricing is as serious as the guarantee on framing. A written price before work starts means exactly that.
Our Satisfaction Promise
If something’s not right after we finish, here’s what happens. You call Benson ADU Ventura. A live person answers, no voicemail loop. You tell us what’s wrong. We schedule a visit. Troy or one of our background-checked, uniformed technicians comes out, looks at the issue, and determines what it’ll take to fix it. If it falls within the 365-Day Done Right Promise, we handle it. No arguing. No “that’s normal settling.” No making you chase us for three weeks. If we made a mistake, we own it and we fix it.
The free second visit applies to any covered repair that fails. Say a piece of flashing we installed comes loose in a winter storm. You call. We come back. We repair it. You don’t pay for the visit, the labor, or the materials to correct our original work. That’s not a warranty buried in a 40-page contract. It’s one paragraph, stamped on every project, written in English a homeowner can actually read. We want you to feel comfortable recommending us to the neighbor across the street in Midtown or the couple down by the beach who’s been thinking about a JADU (junior accessory dwelling unit, a smaller ADU under 500 square feet) for their aging parents.
Ventura has its own rhythm. Coastal air, summer heat, occasional heavy rain. Building here means accounting for moisture, sun exposure, and soil conditions that shift. Our guarantee applies to work we do in this climate, on your property, under your actual conditions. That’s the difference between a national warranty written by lawyers in another state and a local guarantee from a builder who’s been doing this since 2006. When we make a promise, we know what it means to keep it in Ventura.
Licensed & Insured Backing

Paper promises only matter if the company behind them is legitimate. Benson ADU Ventura is licensed and insured. What that means for your project: if something goes wrong on the job site, you’re not left holding the cost. Our insurance covers the work we do, and our licensing means we answer to the state, not just to ourselves. That’s the real backing behind every written guarantee. A fly-by-night crew can hand you a warranty certificate that isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. We carry the credentials that make our promises enforceable, and we’re happy to show you proof before you sign anything.
We don’t flash a license number on the website and hope you never check. Ask us. We’ll provide it. The same goes for insurance. You deserve to know who’s walking onto your property and what happens if a panel gets dropped or a wall gets scuffed. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, our company is licensed and insured, and our guarantee is written down. Those three things together are the strongest protection a homeowner can have when building an ADU, home addition, or room addition.
Why the Written Price Matters
Most contractor horror stories start the same way: a verbal estimate, a handshake, and a bill that’s 40% higher at the end. We remove that variable entirely. Before any work starts, you receive a written price. It covers the scope we agreed on. If you want to add a closet, change a window, or upgrade your prefab panels, we write a change order and you approve it before we proceed. The price only moves when the scope moves, and the scope only moves with your signature. That’s the Relay Visibility Guarantee at work.
It’s not a sales gimmick. It’s a discipline. When a builder has to put a price in writing before the first day of construction, they’re forced to think through the entire project in advance. They can’t lowball you to win the job and then “discover” problems later. We price it honestly the first time because we’re the ones who have to live with that number. So do you. And it’s been working that way for Benson ADU Ventura under the Relay Home Co. family since 2006.
Building With Brands You Can Verify

The products we use are a quiet part of the guarantee. When we build with a prefab system from Abodu, Cover, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, Plant Prefab, or Tuff Shed, we’re not asking you to trust our word about quality. You can look up those companies yourself. You can read their specs, watch their factory tours, and see how their panels are made. James Hardie cladding, likewise, has a reputation you can verify in five minutes online. We choose these brands because they build products that hold up, and because a homeowner who can research what’s going into their ADU is a homeowner who sleeps better at night.
Site-built work (framed on your property, stick by stick) goes through the same scrutiny. We follow the code, we pull the permits, and we don’t cut corners when no one’s looking. The guarantee applies to site-built and prefab projects equally. What matters is that it’s built right, priced in writing, and stands behind for a full year.
What Happens If You’re Not Satisfied
Start to finish, here’s the process: call us. Tell us what’s wrong. We schedule a visit. A technician comes out, inspects the issue, and reports back. If the fix falls under our workmanship guarantee, we do the repair. You don’t pay for the second visit, the labor, or the parts. If the issue is outside our workmanship (a tree falls on your ADU, a neighbor’s drainage floods your pad), we’ll tell you honestly, and we’ll still help you figure out the next step. That’s not a contract clause; it’s how Troy runs his crews. The person who built your ADU answers when something goes wrong. That’s the whole point of the guarantee.
We’d rather have you call us with a small concern at month two than stew on it silently until month fourteen and tell everyone at the Ventura farmers market that ADU builders are all the same. We’re not. Call us. We’ll show you.
Frequently Asked Questions
The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers our workmanship for a full year after completion. If anything we built fails during that period, we return and fix it at no charge. Beyond that, a free second visit applies to any covered repair that fails within the guarantee period. Call (350) 207-2506 if you have a concern, and we’ll walk you through what’s covered.
Yes. Every homeowner receives a written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t change unless you approve a change order. No surprise bills at the end. No “permit fees” that magically appear. The written price is the price. For a free written estimate on your ADU, home addition, or room addition, call (350) 207-2506.
Yes. We’re licensed and insured, and we’ll provide documentation before you commit to a project. That’s the backbone of every guarantee we write. Without proper licensing and insurance, a warranty means very little. With it, you have real protection. Call (350) 207-2506 and ask us for proof. We’re glad to share it.
We’re authorized to build with Abodu, Cover, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, Plant Prefab, and Tuff Shed, and we use James Hardie cladding. Each of those companies has independently verifiable specs and reputations. You don’t have to take our word for quality; you can research them yourself. That matters to us, and it should matter to you.
An ADU (accessory dwelling unit) is a self-contained living space with its own kitchen, bathroom, and entrance, typically up to 1,200 square feet in California. A JADU (junior accessory dwelling unit) is smaller, capped at 500 square feet, and often carved out of existing space like a converted garage or bedroom wing. Both can add real living space and rental potential to a Ventura property. Call (350) 207-2506 for a free estimate, and we’ll tell you which one fits your lot and budget.
